"The Gift" is a song by Canadian singer Celine Dion from the soundtrack album, Love Again (2023). It was written by James G. Morales, Matt Morales, Dave Rodriguez, Tina Parol and Jason Wade, and produced by the American production team The Elev3n. The uptempo track received positive reviews from music critics and peaked at number two on the sales and airplay charts in Quebec.
After releasing Courage in 2019 and embarking on the Courage World Tour, Dion joined the cast of the American romantic comedy-drama film directed by James C. Strouse, Love Again.[1] Principal photography began in October 2020 and ended in early 2021.[2] Dion recorded five new songs for the film, including "Love Again" released on 13 April 2023, her first new music in four years and since she revealed in December 2022 that she has been struggling with stiff-person syndrome.[3] The second song, "I'll Be" was released on 5 May 2023.[4] "The Gift" was released on the Love Again soundtrack on 12 May 2023.[5] It was used in the opening sequence of the film.[6] "The Gift" was written by The Elev3n (James G. Morales, Matt Morales, Dave Rodriguez), Tina Parol and Jason Wade, and produced by The Elev3n.[5] In 2019, they also wrote and produced "Soul", which was recorded by Dion for her previous album, Courage and included on its Japanese edition.[7] However on 10 January 2020, "Soul" was released worldwide on music streaming services.[8]
Entertainment Focus named "The Gift" an unexpectedly uptempo moment, the kind of which Dion experimented with on her Courage album.[9]
After the soundtrack's release, "The Gift" debuted and peaked at number two on the Quebec Top Sales Songs chart.[10] As "The Gift" became popular on the radio in Quebec, it also entered the Top Radio Songs chart at number eight in early June 2023[11] and peaked at number two in the first week of July 2023.[12]
