The tournament ran from 31 December 2000 through 6 January 2001.

Silvija Talaja was the defending champion but lost in the quarterfinals to Silvia Farina Elia.^[1][2]

Justine Henin won in the final 7–6^(7–5), 6–4 against Farina Elia.^[3][4]
